Tens of thousands of people have disappeared in African #ICRC

Tens of thousands of people have disappeared in African countries, including Ethiopia. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has announced that more than 44,000 people have been confirmed lost across Africa.

They said 45 percent of them are children. Of these, only 82 percent are from 7 conflict-affected countries. More than half of the total lost people in Africa are Nigerians. Nearly 24,000 people are reported missing in the country. Other countries with the highest number of missing persons include Ethiopia, South Sudan, Somalia, Libya, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Cameroon.

According to the organization, the number of people lost on the continent in the past year has been increasing due to conflicts and other forms of violence. They said efforts to locate victims and reunite them with their families had been hampered by the restrictions imposed by the Covide-19 epidemic, but said those missing were not forgotten.
