 China opposes the new round of sanctions imposed by the US on Ethiopia,

Chinese Foreign Ministry's spokesperson Zhao Lijian said Wednesday.

Zhao made the remarks at a press briefing in response to a query on an executive order signed by US President Joe Biden authorizing a new round of sanctions against Ethiopia due to conflict inside the country.

Zhao said that China always holds that international law and basic norms governing international relations must be adhered to in state-to-state relations. China opposes wanton pressure through sanctions or the threat of imposing sanctions to interfere in other countries' internal affairs, Zhao added.

He urged that the US should prudently handle issues related to Ethiopia and play a constructive role in restoring peace and stability in the country.

"We believe that Ethiopia, as China's important cooperative partner in Africa, has the wisdom and capability to properly resolve internal differences, and hope the country could achieve national reconciliation and restore peace and stability at an early date," Zhao said.


UNICEF officials visited displaced people in Dessie


UNICEF is turning it face to Ethiopia, Now its representative is visiting currently condition of displaced people in wolo region .

"Mothers, children, the disabled and many citizens need food and health services" - Dessie Mayor Abebe Gebremeskel.


UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia, Adel Koder, - British Special Envoy Nick Dyer, - Itleva Cadlil, UNICEF Head of Supply, - UNICEF Bahir Dar field staff and other IDPs visit Dessie.

Dessie Mayor Abebe Gebre Meskel briefed the officials. He called on humanitarian organizations to provide immediate assistance to those displaced by the TPLF invasion of Dessie.

He thanked UNICEF representatives for their visit.

Abebe G / Meskel said displaced people are being subjected to severe hardship and harassment and called on charities, various sections of the community, investors and every Ethiopian to donate food, clothing and other items.

In particular, mothers, children and the infirm, as well as "many citizens, need food and health care," he said.

UNICEF and other charities called for immediate assistance.

UNICEF officials visited displaced people in Dessie their current situation in person.

During the visit, Dessie Mayor Abebe Gebremeskel explained:there are more than 300,000 displaced people in Dessie and the government was doing its best to help the displaced, but it was not possible.

Dessie City Health Office Head, Mr. Abdulhamid Yimer said the number of displaced people increasing from time to time.

UNICEF Representative in Ethiopia, Adel Koder: said he was saddened by what he saw in the refugee camps and said he would do his best in the future.


Germany supported Dr. Tedros Adhanom.


German Health Minister Jens Span; Dr. Tedros Adhanom has supported the re-election of the World Health Organization (WHO).

Before the end of this week, James Span asked other countries to nominate Dr. Tedros Adhanom to lead the next World Health Organization.

"We invite partner countries to nominate Tedros," he told Reuters.

Dr Tedros' support from Germany, one of the world's largest donors, will increase their chances of being re-elected, Reuters reported.

Although Dr. Tedros did not officially announce his candidacy for the second round, Dr. Tedros cited sources close to the matter as saying that he was running for the presidency of the World Health Organization.

In other news, Dr. Tedros Adhanom is on a working visit to Afghanistan.

During his visit, he visited health facilities in Afghanistan and consulted with Taliban leaders on the current state of health in Afghanistan.
