It is estimated that 1.2 million of those displaced by the TPLF's war in the Amhara region since July 2013 have returned to their homes.
Amhara Regional State Disaster Prevention and Food Security Commissioner Zelalem Lijalem told The Reporter:in addition to the 200,000
IDPs in the Debark camp, who are expected to return soon due to occasional harassment by the TPLF in North Gondar, the IDPs in other areas have been fully repatriated.
In addition to those displaced by the fighting, the number of people displaced by the ongoing conflict in Ataye, Benishangul-Gumuz, and the Oromia Regional State by the OLF Shene has reached 900,000.
He added that the number of people in need of emergency assistance in the region has reached 11.4 million due to looting, destruction and economic crisis in the occupied territories, including those who were displaced by the TPLF war.
He said until the citizens who have returned to their villages become productive and resilient 1.2 million quintals of food is needed every month to feed the returnees, but only 426,000 quintals is now available.
The region is currently undergoing reconstruction and reconstruction work with a team of experts from all universities and leaders of the injured institutions and a team of six researchers studying the effects of the war.
