Addis Ababa University urges those Coming from conflict areas and graduate students to leave campus by end of December.
The 41 former students, from Welega area of Oromia region, Metekel zone of Benishangul Gumuz region and Tigray region, applied for a stay at the university after graduation due to security concerns.
According to Matthias Ersamo, Vice President of Administration and Student Services of the University, the students have been receiving dormitories and food services on campus since graduation.
He said the students have now been warned to leave the campus.
The Vice President said that some of the graduates have continued to live on the campus even after getting a job in Addis Ababa. The students said they could not confirm whether the area they came from was a security risk.
He noted that the number of graduates from Tigray State is "small" due to the fact that graduates from the Tigray region have found employment and returned to their homes over time.
"Students' legal contracts with the university will be terminated after graduation," he said. He stated that the university does not have the authority to spend money on graduates.
Addis Ababa University graduated its students on September 30, 2014.
