At least 56 people have been killed in an airstrike on a camp for displaced people in the Tigray region, Dozens of aid workers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, were quoted as saying by Reuters.
The bomber struck shortly after noon in front of a school in Dedebit, a town in northwestern Eritrea on Friday.
Aid workers told Reuters on Saturday that the death toll had been confirmed by local authorities.
Aid workers sent photos of the wounded to hospitals, including children, to Reuters.
According to one of the aid workers who visited Sherehul General Hospital, the camp is home to many elderly people and children.
It is not clear how and why the school was attacked. Reuters reports that the attack was not independently verified.
He tried to contact the Ethiopian government, but was unsuccessful. He recalled that the Ethiopian government had previously stated that it would not attack civilians often.
