Ethiopia urges World Health Organization Director General Dr. Tedros Adhanom not to express his personal views on Ethiopia.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Director General said the Federal Government of Ethiopia has blocked humanitarian assistance to the people of Tigray State. The government has banned its citizens from receiving food, medicine and other life-saving assistance, he said.
Following this, the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) tweeted that Dr. Tedros, a staunch supporter of Ethiopian politics, should stay away from Ethiopia and remain neutral.
Instead of fulfilling their international responsibilities, they are reflecting their political and personal interests and the work of UN agencies is being hampered, he said.
He called on the United Nations Mission in Ethiopia (UNMIS) to reconsider its position on Ethiopia.
Ethiopia has criticized the World Health Organization (WHO) for not commenting on the destruction of health facilities as a result of the war.
